Election Day has finally arrived. After endless months of campaigning, scandals, soul-searching, and spiritual debates, Nigerian Christians will go to the polls and cast their vote for the next president of the Nigeria. If you’re like me, you’re probably ready for this whole thing to be over. The negativity of this election has been exhausting, and the anxiety it’s produced has reached truly historic levels. Still, even as the nation waits for the ballots to be tallied, Christians everywhere are being reminded that God is in control.
This election season has been hard on everyone. It has created division and discord, and no amount of tension within the Church. Yet in all things Christ is good. As believers, we can rest in the assurance that God will stand with us no matter who resides in the Aso Rock. So remember to cast your vote, and do so without fear. May these Scriptures for election day calm your anxieties and help you rest in God’s peace.
A Prayer for Election Day: Holy Father, Thank you for the opportunity to have a voice in the way my government runs. I praise you for the PVC that I have. Please have Your sovereign hand over this country. Please keep our country healthy during this season. Give us the peace that passes understanding about the vote, and the outcome. You Word says that You change the times and the seasons, so You are in control of this phase in our nation’s history. I ask for the season to not be volatile, and that our nation would see You in it. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen
